Climbing the Temple

If you walk around the left side of the temple you'll find a wall covered in moss. Start climbing there. You might enjoy figuring out how to get all the way up yourself. If you find your grip meter isn't large enough, jump in upward diagonals. This takes longer but uses significantly less of the grip meter.

There are a few things to see onces on top: A garden with fruits that decrease your health; a frustrating arrangment of blocks; and ofcourse the bridge which leads to the world entrance.

Thank you, there is atleast one person who read your blog here, been poking around sotc and needed info to get to the garden. I had the right starting point but didnt know you could rest or that you were supposed to go right after reaching the ledge. I just beat all 16 on time attack easy, and I am enjoying my flash arrows... alot. Wish I got it on video; blew an eagle/falcon out of the sky with one, hehe. Anyway, thanks for the help. If you've beaten hard time attack i'd like to see the other rewards, mainly the "parachute" I hear about, thanks.

There is something strange in the european version. I can not rest on the tiny piece of ground you show in your video. After the frist straight climb, if I jump onto this part, either I fall, or I am automaticly moved on the upper left. I think they fixed that bug for the european version ... argh ! The only way seems to use an action replay cheat code to have infinite grip, thing I do not like to do.

Dark Inquisitor: yeah, a few people have noted that the ledge no longer works. i really thought they wanted people to use that ledge, to make it easier to get up there.. oh well, i guess they considered it a "glitch".

nope, the diagonal jump glitch doesn't work in the european version either. in fact i think they'd fixed that by the time the japanese version was released.

just thought i'd let everybody know
that it is possible to get to the garden in the PAL version
i completed the game twice and was on the 15 colossus the first time i reached the top.
Not as amazing as i thought it would be, but don't get me wrong its breath-taking but i expected to reach the true top of the shrine.

A question to the last poster...

"How?"

I just got up to the garden in the PAL game, it took a LOT of stamina (I was on my third playthrough and had been eating a lot of lizards). Apart from a small shortcut I simply climbed the entire way... The shortcut is (if I remember correctly) when you get off the first ledge and there's a grassy area and a ledge below you, go around the corner only about a third of the way, then jump backwards and sideways to the grassy wall. If you do this correctly, you'll be able to grab onto the grass near the corner of the grassed area and the lower ledge. From this corner, I took a great almighty leap sideways and grabbed on about halfway across, saving me climbing stamina. ^^

It can be done, just takes a lot of patience to build up that much stamina. Hunting lizards is much easier with the flash arrows, though. ^^

How many colloses you have to kill to get up there?

I must admit that I have my doubts that anyone with a Pal version of this game has made it to the Secret Garden using the climbing method. I think those who claim they have are bull-shi**ing. I have played through easy, time attack and reminise mode. I have eaten all the lizards. The highest I can climb up the temple is the point were the glitched version lets you rest.

I believe I said I was on the third playthrough - I had a LOT of stamina (in fact, it's nearly transparent after defeating the 15th Colossus). Just playing it through once will get nowhere NEAR the amount of stamina you need... in fact to be able to do it safely I need to finish the game again to get more.

I don't appreciate being called a liar.

re: How many colloses you have to kill to get up there?

you can actually climb the temple without having killed a single colossi. but in that video, i'd played through the game at least once.

I heard from another website that there is a hidden colossus in the garden, I wasn't surprised when I found nothing there, and extremely mad when I couldn't climb any higher with the blocks on the far wall.

I'd be very interested to hear exactly how those people who claim to have reached the secret garden in the PAL version achieved this. I've just completed the game for the third time and I still don't have enough stamina to get more than halfway round the second ledge.

ok, thanks. I guess I just made the mistake of thinking that I must have enough stamina after completing it for the 3rd time but obviously I still have a way to go.

Question for the PAL gamers.

Do the Lizards re-populate every time you finish the game?

I'm on my second playthrough and have cleared the map of all Lizards. My grip meter is quite high, but still not nearly enough to reach the top of the tower. As a previous poster said, about a third of my grip meter extends beyond the screen.

I can reach what I assumed to be a resting spot (platform with a tree growing on it, above the second ledge you must shimmy around) but can't jump from the moss up to this platform. Unless there is an alternate resting spot, or the lizards do in fact re-populate I can't see me reaching the top.

To answer my own question, the lizards do re-populate. I haven't yet maxed out my grip so I don't know whether you can get to the top of the tower in the PAL version.

hmmm, they don't repopulate in the american version =\

That's probably because they don't need to. With the verticle jump glitch , you guys never need to max out your grip.

i hav the pal version and i hav made it to the garden. i am on my 2nd run thru and up to the 15th colossus. there is a rest area that i hav found:
1/2 way up the first climb there is a ledge, not the grassy 1, but a sloped 1 to the right of the grassy climbing stuff.. if u climb just past that and then fall onto it, face so ur running up the slope ur stamina meter fills up again, then u just jump a few tyms and grab bak onto the grass and continue climbing. then near the end on the last part to climb there is another reachable rest spot on the last climb, u hav to jump sideways onto an almost imposible spot and keep running again, then jump bak onto the grassy stuff and get to the top.

Actually, the fruits in the secret garden aren't poisonous...in fact they are helping Wanda to be normal (storyline-wise) since he has pieces of Dormin in him. The fruits are pure and help to rid the dark powers that infest Wanda after defeating a colossus. Wanda doesn't level up after each colossus but rather gains dark powers from pieces of Dormin that exit the colossi to enter Wanda. It's just story for Wanda to unknowingly have the dark parts of Dormin within him. That doesn't mean that it's okay to ask a voodoo-ist for powers to help you in life. ^_^

I've got to the garden, i've completed the game 4 times, which let me enough stamina to reach the top. No were NEAR as good as it's hyped up to be, seriously. I thought i would be able to climb higher, but no. Big let down.
But still, amazing game.

I actually bought a ps2 this year specifically for this game. My cousin found out about climbing to the garden and I have made seveal attempts. It's very difficult, even with all the diagonal jumping! Oh well, try try again I suppose. Thanks for the post!
